Most people find spider veins aesthetically unpleasant. In fact, they are more than that: the fine dilated skin veins are often an indication of an incipient venous disorder, which should be recognized and treated in good time. This is because varicose veins do not first develop where you can see them, but in the deeper venous system. Before spider veins are treated, weakness of the trunk veins should be ruled out. This is done with an ultrasound examination in our consultation. <\/p><\/div>

Sclerotherapy can be used to treat spider veins<\/a> as well as larger vessels, which usually run along the legs in a tortuous pattern (varicosis). Polidocanol (Aethoxysklerol\u00ae) is used for microfoam sclerotherapy. This is foamed alcohol that is injected into the spider veins using micro mini-needles. In contrast to liquid medication, this has a decisive advantage: the blood is displaced in the spider veins, the effect on the inner vein wall is prolonged and the sclerotherapy effect is supported. Even the finest spider veins can be treated well and permanently in this way.
Aethoxysklerol\u00ae is not only the most renowned but also the best-researched sclerosing agent. There is no comparable scientific evidence for any other sclerosing agent. To date, around 500 studies on sclerotherapy with Aethoxysklerol\u00ae have been published. The EasyFoam\u00ae Kit syringe system can be used to produce a viscous, stable and fine-bubble sclerosing foam from Aethoxysklerol\u00ae and air. This microfoam works even better than the liquid sclerosing agent, which is one of the main reasons why foam sclerotherapy has become established internationally for the treatment of varicose veins.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Use of ultrasound and Veinlite\u00ae in sclerotherapy<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Foam sclerotherapy is used for larger varicose veins under ultrasound guidance. The ultrasound makes the sclerosing foam visible in the vessel, allowing the agent to be applied precisely and dosed correctly. Ultrasound can also be used to visualize and puncture deeper varicose veins that are not immediately visible from the outside. <\/p>

Another way of detecting varicose veins is the so-called Veinlite\u00ae. With this special light, we can detect spider veins and nutrient veins that are not visible to the naked eye or by touch. With a steady hand and these supporting aids, we can achieve the best possible treatment results. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In very few cases, skin discoloration (pigmentation) may occur in the sclerotherapy area. However, these fade again. In rare cases, superficial inflammation of the veins (phlebitis) or local reactions (e.g. necrosis) may also occur. As a rule, these can be treated very well and heal quickly. However, allergic reactions are extremely rare. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

There is insufficient experience with the use of Aethoxysklerol\u00ae in pregnant women. Results on the possible passage into breast milk are not available. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Apart from the punctures with a very fine micro-needle and possibly a slight burning sensation during the injection, the treatment is painless. You can return to your everyday life immediately after the treatment. Compression stockings are not necessary afterwards and sport is possible. Depending on the extent of the findings, several sessions may be necessary, as only a limited amount can be “injected” per treatment.
