A reliable diagnosis can be made four weeks after the culture has been taken. It is important for the success of the treatment that the shoes are regularly disinfected with special sprays. This is because fungal spores can persist in them for up to six months. Socks should be washed at a minimum of 60 degrees, preferably with a hygiene rinse aid.
