Permanent hair removal completely without pain
Hair removal – laser epilation in dermatology at Sendlinger Tor Munich.
Never shave again, never epilate again – with laser hair removal in our dermatology at Sendlinger Tor you can achieve this goal and look forward to lasting smooth and supple skin.
Our specialists remove annoying hair permanently without annoying stubble with laser epilation. Epilation is the removal of hair by destroying the hair root. In our specialist practice in Munich, we use a diode laser with the Alexandrite wavelength (755nm) for this purpose, which has proven to be highly effective in hair removal. Our
Diode Laser Soprano ICE® from the company Alma works in contrast to conventional laser systems with the SHR and ICE technology. This allows painless treatment even for tanned skin or dark skin types.

Technology SHR™ & ICE™
SHR™ gradually heats the dermis to a temperature that effectively damages hair roots, prevents hair regrowth and is gentle on surrounding tissue. Short pulses penetrate deep into the dermis at a high repetition rate and high average energy to produce the therapeutically effective heat buildup.
.
ICE™ is an advanced technique for skin cooling during treatment. The cold sapphire glass window cools the epidermis, minimizing the risk of superficial burns when in contact with the skin while retaining heat in the dermis. This noticeably increases patient comfort and makes treatment more pleasant than ever before.
Applications
Laser epilation can permanently eliminate bothersome body hair. Laser hair removal is suitable for all parts of the body – especially large areas such as legs, abdomen and back can be quickly and easily depilated with the laser. You can also have the bikini line and face lasered, as well as underarm hair.
Mode of action
The absorbed light increases the temperature in the hair follicle and consequently denatures the proteins. After destruction of the proteins, nutrients no longer reach the hair root, which leads to hair fall out. Without the supply of nutrients, no further hair can grow back either.
During diode laser treatment, the heat can only penetrate the layer of skin that contains hair papillae. Due to the constant wavelength of the laser, the other skin layers remain unaffected. Likewise, surrounding tissue and blood are not affected. This is because the pigment hemoglobin contained in the blood reacts to a different wavelength.
It is important for the treatment that there is an active connection between hair and hair root. Because only in this growth phase the light can reach the hair root directly. For this reason, you need several sessions in our dermatology in Munich to achieve a successful treatment of permanent hair removal.
Treatment
The treatment takes place in our dermatological specialist practice at Sendlinger Tor in Munich. During the treatment you will wear eye protection to protect your eyes from the laser light. Before the laser hair removal, your skin will be cooled to make it less sensitive to pain. During the laser hair removal, our dermatological experts move the laser beam over the areas of the body to be treated. Depending on the size of the treatment area, a session lasts from 10 minutes (upper lip) to about an hour (legs).
What to consider before a treatment
Before a treatment with the diode laser, it is essential to avoid waxing or epilating the hair. With such hair removal methods, the hair is removed with its root and is therefore no longer treatable. On the other hand, there is nothing to be said against shaving, because only a superficial removal of the hair takes place. In this case, the essential connection to the hair root remains. Only in this way can the light rays reach the hair root from the hair to achieve permanent hair removal. If this connection is broken, it takes about 4 weeks until the hair is in the growth phase again and can therefore be treated.
Pigment or liver spots are covered or completely omitted before each treatment. The reason for this is that there is a high melanin content in the spots. Places with tattoos are also not lasered during each treatment, otherwise color changes may occur.
Aftercare
Slight redness may occur after treatment. These should disappear after one to two days.
Intensive sunbathing or solarium visits should be avoided. If in rare cases redness lasts longer, do not hesitate to contact us.
Treatment result
After the very first hair removal treatment, a large amount of hair is removed. After 1-3 weeks, the hair falls out and the skin feels smooth and soft. A successfully treated hair root is no longer able to produce new hair. However, since only hairs that are in the active growth phase are permanently damaged, because the hair shaft only reaches into the hair growth zone during this phase, some hair will grow back about 6 weeks after each session. At this time, the next session should then take place. Depending on the body region, the treatment must be repeated between 3 and 8 times in a 6-8 week rhythm. At the end of a successful therapy, 10-15% hairs remain. These are very thin, soft and hardly visible downy hairs, but they may change into thicker terminal hairs in the course of time. Therefore, to maintain the good result, the treatment should be repeated about once a year afterwards.
Risks and side effects
Due to the unique Soprano ICE® technique, the treatment is virtually painless and extremely low in side effects. Shortly after the treatment, there is a temporary slight redness and swelling, especially around the hair openings, which will subside by itself after a few minutes or a few hours. In very rare cases, especially when treating very dark or excessively tanned skin, a superficial burn can lead to slight crusting, which in individual cases is accompanied by temporary hypo- or hyperpigmentation (lack of or excessive skin coloration). Basically, according to everything that is known about it so far, laser light is completely harmless to humans when used properly, because it is only bundled high-energy light.
When not to treat?
We do not perform hair removal in the following cases:
After intense tanning of the skin in the sun or solarium. Even after the treatment, sun and
Solarium should be avoided while the skin is still irritated.
- While taking certain medications e.g. antibiotics (doxycycline) and psychotropic drugs (phenothiazine)
- On tattoos and skin that is not intact (scars, rashes, herpes, skin cancer, pigment abnormalities sunburn, etc.)
- During pregnancy, permanent hair removal treatment should not take place. Although there is no evidence that it could cause damage to the embryo, we still advise against treatment. It is advisable to start hair removal after the end of breastfeeding, because only then the hormonal balance settles properly.
- 3-4 weeks before the treatment and during the entire duration of the treatment, you should not remove the hair at the root, that is, epilate or wax. Then the treatment does not strike properly. Shaving is allowed at any time.
