Mode of action of the radial laser
The ELVeS Radial Laser™ works with bundled light in an optimized wavelength and requires very little energy to do so. This energy is used very specifically to heat and seal the inner wall of the diseased vein before it is absorbed by the water in the vein wall. The radial, all-round laser light penetrates only slightly into the tissue. The skin, muscles and fatty tissue are therefore not damaged. For this reason, the treatment method is extremely gentle.
Execution of the treatment
The outpatient procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia. The doctor works with a very thin and flexible probe. This laser fiber is inserted into the varicose vein on the lower leg via a tiny puncture and then advanced into the groin. In the process, its tip emits the compressed light in a ring (radial) shape. By slowly retracting the laser fiber, the diseased vein can be welded along the entire length of the leg. In this way, the damaging backflow of blood is stopped.
Behavior after the procedure
After treatment with the ELVeS Radial Laser™, patients can return to their daily activities immediately. Compression stockings do not necessarily need to be worn in the weeks following the procedure, and exercise is permitted again after just one week. The organism takes care of the complete degradation of the closed vein in a natural way and usually needs only a few months for this.
